Jamie Osuna killed Yvette Pena in 2011, a single mother six. Beating, stabbing, strangulation. Osuna went on the news to admit guilt and say he was proud of his crimes and proud of himself. A self styled nihilist in the vein of comic book and movie villains, he went on to behead his cellmate at Corcoran State Prison and desecrate his body. A battle for his competency ensued and the legal response to Osuna continues. But is it worth it? And are we indulging his self image, his machismo, his juice through our horror and awe at his crimes? We give guys like him too much credit.
