Last May, Comm Center covered the case of Mantua Township Police Officer Salvatore Oldrati and his response to Charles Sharp's 9-1-1 call. Sharp said armed prowlers were on his property entering his truck and shed. But that was all a lie. Sharp was under the influence of cocaine, methamphetamine and was carrying a replica pistol, and daring police to shoot him. To preserve his and another police officer's life from the apparent threat, Oldrati opened fire. Sharp tried to reach for the fake gun even after shot. Finally stopped, Oldrati attempted to saved Sharp's life. The New Jersey State Shooting Board and the old Attorney General cleared Oldrati. He returned to duty, winning officer of the year again, and was promoted. Then new AG Matt Platkin assumed office and dug up old cases to prosecute and found a cop to string up to make him look tough in the 'Defund' era. Three years has left a good man and his family fighting for what's right. Hear from Barbara and Drew Oldrati-- the officer's parents-- for the truth of this disgraceful sham prosecution.

Last September, a common call was placed a comm center in Illinois: a man came home to find his house ransacked. The caller was interrupted by the sounds of gunfire. Another call came in: neighbor heard shots. Now the Plano Police and Kendall County Sheriffs Office respond to the scene of the crime, where a Ford Bronco is in flight. Officers give chase while medics find the 9-1-1 caller shot and killed. Now the suspect is in a do or die pursuit with police in heart of Aurora, forcing officers to take action while surrounded by dozens of innocent bystanders. After it's all over, can the police breathe easy? Or is their next ambush coming from the state's attorney's office?
In Alexandria, a 9-1-1 call prompts a welfare check on a man in mental distress--Paul Behan had lost his wife and job, and had been drinking. Paul answered the door with a rifle under his chin, and a tense standoff began. Officers pleaded to save Paul from himself-- but should they have been there in there in the first place? Being mentally unwell isn't against the law, and if no one else is in danger, should police take the risk?
Actual 9-1-1 dispatcher Jon plays a phone call made every day in this country: a call for someone passed out inside a car. This time in Phoenix Arizona. What are the potential problems and dangers? Next, actual cop Drew Breasy walks you through how the police respond: first to check welfare of the driver, but after she refuses to comply and attempts to leave, how the response has to escalate. But why did this have to happen? And what is the shocking turn of events that would have made her death a tragedy?
In this special Aftershow, Jon gets it all off his chest-- is Donald Trump going to be a fascist in his next term? Without having to worry about appeal to the voters a fourth time, Trump could go on a full blown "revenge tour." But what does that mean? Will political opponents be jailed? Will radical ideology sweep the country? Will rights be curtailed? Jon also opines on Kamala: Was she REALLY the worst veep ever? And did Biden vote for Trump? For three hours, Jon talks the election and the changes to come responding eventually to live chats from the audience.
Enjoy this final breakdown of the past 4 years and election result, or if you are burned out-- skip it, and we'll catch you on the next episode.
In Day Five of Sarah Boone's Trial, attorney James Owens' lack of prep time shows as he cross examines State witness Doctor Tonia Werner, a forensic psychiatrist practicing since 1998, and asks the doctor to confirm Sarah's battered spouse syndrome (BSS) and PTSD. Werner stated she didn't have enough evidence to diagnose PTSD and said most damningly that because Sarah stated at the outset that she and victim Jorge Torres were having a fun day of hide-and-go-seek, Sarah had no reasonable belief she was in imminent danger. This pulled the rug out of Sarah's entire defense-- she has BSS, yes, but it didn't matter during the moment when Sarah zipped the case shut and never let Jorge out again. The state closed out the day with release of 911 calls and body cam footage from domestic violence cases before the murder, and Jon and Drew break it all down live, and take your comments and phone calls.
15-year-old Carly Gregg was just sentenced to life for what she did to her mother and stepfather-- she tried to claim a mental health problem was entirely to blame for ambushing her family. Real dispatcher Jon breaks down the shocking 911 audio from the survivor and credible cop Drew will talk about the criminal intent, special circumstances and scene investigation pro-tips in this appalling crime and it's shocking twists.
Bree Kuhn was found guilty of murdering her husband in their Gulf Breeze home in 2021 and sentenced to life in prison. Collin Turner was on the phone with 9-1-1 when he was fatally shot, after a day spent at home with his wife where both had called the police multiple times. Bree claimed she was assaulted and Collin claimed she was preventing the peace-- police officers came twice before it escalated to murder. But did the police fail to act? Authentic Florida Cop Drew breaks down Florida statutes, Jon compares them to "mandatory arrest" states, and both react to the horrifying sound of a man being murdered, which the 9-1-1 dispatcher was forced to witness.
