The crux of the defense was that Erik and Lyle believed their lives were in danger after they threatened to publicly expose their wealthy and powerful father's abuse. Drew is sympathetic to their story of lifelong assault and mortal fear. Jon sees it as an after-the-fact method of obtaining reduced charges and an eased sentence. Special guest Abby Ellsworth from On Being A Police Officer weighs in with her take. What do you believe?
Authentic cop Drew Breasy and actual 9-1-1 dispatcher Jon break down America's Crime Of The Century-- the one before OJ. Jon analyzes the 1989 call to police, feigned by Lyle to mislead the police, and Drew will talk about guilty clues in their trial testimony, as well as what crime boss Michael Franzese had to say about sharing a cell block with the infamous murderers.
Sarah Boone, the woman who killed her boyfriend Jorge Torres Jr. back in 2020 is still in court in Orange County-- after driving away eight attorneys on her case a judge finally ruled that she had waived her own right to court-appointed counsel. What followed was her disastrous pro se defense: sending letters to the judge, filing irrelevant and confusing motions, and delaying progress at every turn with complaints and excuses. Catch up on where she is now as the deadline for trial looms on October 7, and go back and listen to Parts 1-3 of The Death By Suitcase podcast.
Police and Paramedics respond to a bar when an emergency call is placed for an unconscious person. Upon arrival the patient has mysteriously disappeared. The caller, still on scene, tells her bizarre story. Police investigate to find out everyone is okay, and that there is no more to be done. Then, at a gas station not far away, the woman at the bar continues to dial 911 to complain about the police, while the clerk also wants her gone. The final confrontation begins when the officers ask Karen to stop calling 911, and she is taken into custody, cussing swearing and resisting the whole way. If you want to hear Karen being processed at the station-- check out our YouTube page as Jon does a full drunk-in-custody breakdown.
A woman called 911. Her husband was drunk and armed, and ready to fight both his wife and law enforcement. Officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute at a home near 24th Street and Cactus Road. The weapon was discharged in the house and again outside as the police raced to the scene. An every day call in Phoenix and across the country, it's one of the most dangerous calls that police can respond to. Actual 911 Dispatcher Jon will take you through the real audio from the call, and veteran detective Drew Breasy will tell you how police officer respond to protect the city.

When Hall came for the ransom money, Brock took her phone and shot her multiple times. But who is the mastermind that set these two on their fatal course towards each other? Retired detective Drew will talk crime scene investigation tactics and the law, and how a case can be blown from the start. Jon catches up on voicemails.
Uber driver Lo-Letha Hall was shot and killed in the driveway of Bill Brock. Brock, 61, thought she was bagman for an extortionist, who had been threatening him and his family all morning over the phone. Hall was there to collect an envelope containing $12,000 which Brock had been told would be bond money to spring his nephew from jail. The same grifter had sent Hall to pickup a package-- but she had no idea what it was. She couldn't have guessed an agitated gunman would be there to meet her. Now Brock is charged is charged with murder, Hall's family is in abject grief. And the mastermind of the plot straight out of Hitchcock? He's still in the wind. Real dispatcher Jon will react for the first time to the actual 9-1-1 calls, and former Detective Drew exposes these common scams, and how hard it is to find the perpetrators.
The boys are back in Classic Comm Center form-- live on a Thursday night to shoot the shit and take your calls just like in the good ol' days. But the release of body cam footage and 911 calls from that terrible day two years ago in south Texas weighs heavily on us-- the social media cops are back to carry the main stream media's water on the failure to intervene sooner at the terrible mass murder at Robb Elementary. They all say there's no law west of the Pecos, but isn't that oversimplifying? Isn't that scapegoating? They're out for blood and there's none to be had from the sick monster who killed his grandma and drove to a school that day to point a gun at innocent children. It's a heavy topic-- but Drew and Jon do their best to keep it light so we can acknowledge loss, tragedy, consequences and carry on. This aired on YouTube for members only.
"I don't want you to hurt her," Sonya Massey's mother plead in a 911 call, as she asked for police to solve the escalating problems with her daughter. Now America has taken a drive-by glance at another officer-involved shooting and critical thinking is nowhere to be found. Jon and Drew do the ultimate before and after breakdown so that you can can have complete context and truth which challenges the soundbites from TV's talking heads.
