When you watch a series or a documentary do you ever wonder about what goes on behind the camera? Today I talk to James Maher, a media producer who has created content for a whole range of different types of projects.

We talk about how he got into media initially by taking photos for a shop he worked for and that grew to being lead producer on The Grassroots Rider Academy this year.

How James didn't get a formal education in video and media production but has still worked with the likes of RTÉ

How people initially don't tend to take him seriously just by how he looks

That no project is the same and each one is like a new adventure which James really enjoys

We also talk about interviewing and finding ways to get people to tell their story

We discuss The Grassroots Rider Academy the preparations and the importance of having a good team behind you

James also talks about how if you want to do something just do it, the only way to learn is by getting out there and making mistakes and he wouldn't change anything good times or bad

The importance of word of mouth and also being okay with turning down projects because the work will be there

That if you want to do something the time to do it is not when you get home from work
