Dr. David E. Scheim was awarded a doctorate in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in mathematical biology at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. He then served as a commissioned officer in the US Public Health Service stationed at the National Institutes of Health. Since 2020, Dr. Scheim has focused his research efforts on glycan bindings of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and possibilities for competitive inhibition of those bindings by using pharmacological agents practical for widespread use. His collaborative efforts in this field have resulted in several publications.
