A special guest joined Alison on Weekend Breakfast this week. Brandon Fay is 17 and contracted Covid-19 after coming home from holidays.

Brandon is still in school and is on a work placement at The Mater Hospital with dreams of becoming a nurse.

After feeling unwell with what he thought was his asthma, Brandon visited the hospital to discover he had the virus and was put in isolation in hospital.

He shared his story of how the virus effects young people, how he missed his mom while in isolation, the love and care he received from front line workers, his dark moments and how he's feeling now.

Brandon can't wait to get back work on the front line!

On Friday the station got behind #FormalFriday to raise funds for our front line heroes around the country and the response was utterly incredible. The hope was to reach a target of €100,000 by the close of business but the donations kept coming in and still are with the very latest total of €160,000!
