Do you ever feel like no matter how hard you try and push forward, life seems to be going backward? In today's message, "When Forward is Backward" we're seeing how even though things may look like they're going backwards in our eyes, it's still forward movement through the eyes of God. We don't always know what He's up to in those moments but we can trust Him to see us through. Join us for church!
In this message from Exodus 4 Pastor Bill explores from Moses' example how we can overcome the tensions we wrestle with when God gives us a difficult assignment in life.
In this message we will look at Moses encounter with God as depicted in Exodus Chapter 3. When God is about to rescue his people, whether it's this story or any of the other stories in the scriptures what we find is that God always begins by showing up in a unique way. Moses hears from God in a burning bush. God tells him to leave where he has been hiding and return to Egypt to rescue the Israelites. Moses comes up with excuses as to why he can't do it, but God has answers - He says that He will be with Moses throughout, and that He is all powerful so Moses should not worry. We will see parallels between Moses' story and ours. We don't have a burning bush, but we have something even better; the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. God will call us to be audacious, but we must not be like Moses and come up with excuses. If we do, we will miss out on what God has in store for us. Instead, if we heed God's call, not only will our lives be transformed, but also those around us.
The people God raises up for redemptive purposes in our world don't just emerge in the moment of need. Rather they are forged over time in some unexpected ways. In this message Pastor Bill discusses how Moses was prepared for his redemptive assignment and how we can also understand how God is working in us now to work through us later.
