Gaining prominence in the 50’s, the jazz saxophonist earned a reputation as a prolific composer unafraid of breaking melodic conventions. His music, if you check it out, sounds so familiar today, but only because of how influential his music has become. He music lives on, but he will be missed.

Jay remembers stringed instrument master (“maxi-instrumentalist”) David Lindley, who passed last week at the age of 78. Another fallen legend, Lindley can be seen on YouTube playing dozens of obscure held-stringed instruments with very famous people. His distinctive lap-steel guitar on Jackson Browne’s “Running on Empty” may be his most known performance, but his range was endless and he appeared with artists of all genres. He too will be missed.
