Pat describes her strength as the willingness to do the hard work necessary to change Mecklenburg for the better, for all the citizens of Mecklenburg County.

Pat also discusses her daughter's switch from the Democratic party to the Republican party, the backlash she has received, and how she has handled it. Pat grew up in a family where waste was unacceptable and this lesson has stuck with her ever since. Forgiveness and understanding are also important lessons that have stuck with her since her childhood.
