2 Black Nerds

Another day another verzuz. This week Jordan and Desmund discuss the versus between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole, the latest episode of WandaVision, the new special Episode of Euphoria, the new Pixar shorts, and the Godzilla vs Kong trailer.

It's been a while since the last episode but after the news and excitement dealing with DC FanDome this past weekend it was only right that the 2 Black Nerds return. Also between the new hit HBO Series Lovecraft Country, the newest season of Umbrella Academy, and so much other news, this may be the longest episode yet.

Happy Spring! Not sure why, but the spring season is bringing out the horror movies. This past weekend, the latest horror film Amazon Prime Video 'MASTER' (1:34) premiered, starring Regina King, a Korean horror film starring Sandra Oh 'UMMA' (18:53) released in theaters this weekend, and the latest slasher film from Ti West and A24 'X' (36:20) also debuted in theaters this weekend. Jordan got the chance to check out some new films from Hulu. 'FRESH' (27:50) a comedy-thriller starring Sebastian Stan and Daisy Edgar-Jones, and 'DEEP WATER' (1:07:17) a psychological thriller starring Ben Affleck and Ana De Armas. 'JUJUTSU KAISEN 0'(55:01) is finally here from studio Mappa, and the heavily anticipated anime film is doing numbers at the box office. Also we're only one week away from the 94th Academy Awards and as usual we discuss our 'OSCAR PREDICTIONS' (1:19:11), as well as some of the shenanigans that the Academy has been up to.

We have so much to celebrate this episode! Not only is this episode 100 of the podcast, but Matt Reeve's 'THE BATMAN' has finally arrived in theaters. Our first episode started with another DC project in 'JOKER' so this episode is a full circle moment for us as we get to talk about 'THE BATMAN'. As always, we start with a recap of the how 'THE BATMAN' came to be, from production to the casting of Robert Pattinson, to the signing of Matt Reeves (2:10). And then as always, we give our spoiler free thoughts (22:42) before we do a deep dive into the characters of the film (34:53). As a duo, we really loved this take on Batman, and hope you enjoy another long episode of the podcast that's just as long as the film itself. Thank you for celebrating our 100th episode with us, and as always, thank you for listening.

Happy Black History Month! Speaking of, Black History was made this past weekend. For the first time, the Superbowl LVI Halfime Show (1:23) was completely headlined by hip-hop acts. LA took over the stage as Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg paid tribute to the city with the help of Mary J. Blige Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and 50 Cent. There were also of plenty of good Superbowl LVI Trailers (23:53) this year including a new trailer for 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.' We also got the chance to check a couple of movies this week with Kenneth Branagh's 'DEATH ON THE NILE' (1:06:41) and Steven Soderbergh's 'KIMI' (1:23:39).

Happy Black History Month! We took some time this week to survey Black TV shows and movies that are worth checking out and made our own lists of suggestions (4:15).

The Academy Award nominations have arrived, and though there's not too much surprising, we discuss predictions and some notable snubs (1:02:22).

It's finally arrived!! Marvel's latest film in the MCU is here with 'SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS'. You know we had to do our complete breakdown of the film as always. We begin talking about the background (1:59) and recap of things to know before Shang-Chi came to be in the MCU. Then of course we give our spoiler free (18:55) thoughts followed by the complete spoiler (37:23) breakdown of the film following each character in the movie. Hope you enjoy.

Before we say goodbye to the podcast, we're giving our final word on the state of #StarWars, #Marvel, and, for this episode in particular, the #DC Universe. We reminisce on the DC projects we've covered on the podcast, discuss some of the ones that never made it to see the light of day, and talk about the future of DC in James Gunn and Peter Safran's hands. We also give out several awards for DC over the past 25 years, including "The 2nd Best DC Film" and "Biggest WTF Moment."

Happy 'Thor: Love and Thunder' week! You'll probably be hearing that from us all month. This episode is a TV round up of the current streaming hitters. First we talk about 'Strangers Things' Season 4 Vol. 2 (1:18), starting off with some general thoughts, then heading into spoiler territory (12:28) to discuss the last two episodes of the season. We then move on to another Netflix show, and give our general overview and review of 'The Umbrella Academy' Season 3 (41:09). And last but certainly not least, we of course spend a good amount of time talking about the penultimate episode of season 3 of the 'The Boys' (54:00).
