  • #2 Love Beyond the Grave: The Obsession of Carl Tanzler

In this chilling episode, the cousins dive into one of the most macabre love stories in American history — the tale of Carl Tanzler, a German-born radiology technician who became infamously obsessed with a young tuberculosis patient, Maria Elena Milagro de Hoyos, in 1930s Key West, Florida.

After Elena’s tragic death, Tanzler’s obsession took a dark turn. Nearly two years later, he exhumed her body and lived with her corpse for seven years, attempting to preserve her remains and recreate the woman he believed was his destined love.

    Join us as we explore:

    • Tanzler’s mysterious early life and strange visions of a “dark-haired woman” he believed was his soulmate.
    • The tragic life and death of Elena de Hoyos.
    • The shocking discovery of her body in Tanzler’s home.
    • The legal and cultural aftermath of the case — and why some people bizarrely romanticized his actions.
