This is the case of Engla Höglund and Pernilla Hellgren. Pernilla was a 31 year old woman who was found murdered in Falun on June 4 2000, she had been beaten and strangled, and is found naked. The case remained unsolved for eight years. And it could have been solved earlier, because it’s later revealed that the police received a tip in 2006 naming the actual killer.
But almost eight years after Pernilla brutally killed, on Saturday April 5th, 2008 a 10-year-old girl named Engla Höglund goes missing in the small town of Stjärnsund. Stjärnsund is located about 45 kilometers or about 27 miles from Falun where Pernilla was found murdered eight years before.
At the time nobody knew or even suspected that the two cases could be connected, but it soon turns out that they are. And the mayor clue to find the killer/abductor turns out to be a couple of photos taken by a man who’s out on a long walk with some friends on that same Saturday that Engla goes missing.
