In 2 Peter 1, the apostle exhorts the readers concerning why they should listen to the words of Peter. As Peter explains, the apostles are the only ones who have the “prophetic word” of the Old Testament “made more sure.” In other words, their eyewitness account concerning Jesus Christ is to be heeded.
