Don't get hung up on language! Perhaps the dumbest thing I ever did when I came to AA was search for excuses to stay sick. Excuses like "the book is outdated"; "it's misogynistic"; "it was written by 2 white, heterosexual males"; "it mentions the word God", the list goes on. And the longer my list grew the longer I stayed stuck in relapse or sober and in pain. It was only when I surrendered to having an open mind and got over the language and focused on the MESSAGE that I started to get well. Today, sobriety is my new normal and life is infinitely more peaceful since I stopped fighting it.

Lisa talks about how hard it was to turn her life over to God in the first place, then things started to go well. Her faith was strengthened when she stopped taking her will back every time things didn't go the way she had hoped or planned.

Today's show Lisa will share a version of her story and how it lead her to the doorstep of recovery. She tried to be a visitor or an outpatient for a while but eventually she had to make the decision to stay.
