James Clear's book, Atomic Habits, created a profound impact on my goal setting journey as it explains that systems is really where you make the money versus goals. I couldn't agree more as I've learned to truly focus on systems and habits around each goal that I write down.
I break down how to focus on building a system through my favorite exercise, habit stacking. Building new habits on top of existing habits is the easiest way to build, strengthen, and refine your system to accomplish goals. From here, I discuss how to maintain your system.
As noted in the book, "You do not rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems."
With each goal that you write down, ask yourself this, "Do I have the system and habits in place to accomplish this goal?"
As we approach a new year, it's imperative to focus on these things.
