2000 Plus presents “The Rocket and the Skull,” originally broadcast October 10, 1951. In this Cold War-era science-fiction drama, an experimental rocket program and the race to reach the Moon collide with an emergency that may carry consequences far beyond Earth.
Set in the then-future year of 2006, the story follows Colonel Bradbury after the crash of an X-93 rocket-jet, as military pressure, experimental medicine, and troubling signals seemingly connected to Mars raise the stakes. Nat Polen stars as Bradbury, with Arnold Robertson and Merrill Joels; the episode was directed by Sherman H. Dryer for the Mutual Broadcasting System.
2000 Plus presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
