2) Shares in instruction, and

3) Shares in encouragement

Prayer and perseverance are necessary components of the Christian walk, a fact Rev. Scribner considers as he preaches from Colossians 4:12-14.

We see in Colossians 4:1-11 that even in the greetings Paul passes along, we gain a glimpse into the glorious gospel of redemption.

We should be careful not to just skip over all those personal greetings at the end of Paul's epistles. There are lessons to be learned from many of those individuals, as the examples of Tychicus and Onesimus show us in Colossians 4:7-9.

In Colossians 4:2-6, the Apostle Paul shares how we relate to God (through prayer) and how we are to relate to others (through wise, gracious speech).

In Colossians 3:18-4:1, the Apostle Paul shares with us:

1) The Gospel Response to Authority,

2) The Gospel Exercise of Authority, and

3) The Gospel Underpinnings of Authority.

In Colossians 3:12-17 we see that...

1) We are chosen to be on Christ's team

2) We wear the uniform of Christ's team

3) We follow the playbook of Christ's team

As those for whom Christ is our life, there are certain things which ought to adorn our lives and things which should be noticeably absent. In Colossians 3:5-8, the Apostle Paul tells us

1) WHAT we should put off,

2) WHY we should put it off, and

3) HOW we put it off.
