The Bentley Flying Spur dropped Continental from its name nearly over a decade ago but doesn’t leave the name’s heritage. From the mythos of the Blue Train to the demands of its clientele, Bentley’s large Flying Spur sedan has big shoes to fill. Helping it live up to those lofty expectations, Bentley has equipped the Flying Spur with three different powertrains. There’s a Flying Spur hybrid, for those who want to be more conscious of their consumption, a V8 for those who are concerned about the exhaust note, and a W12 for the discerning customer who loves twelve cylinders. While we’ve sampled the Flying Spur hybrid, this particular tester’s 4.0-liter V8 sends 542 hp and 568 through the eight-speed automatic transmission. From there, power travels through an all-wheel-drive system before making its way to the wheels.
On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek’s Mark Vaughn hops behind the wheel of the 2024 Bentley Flying Spur and puts it through its paces. Vaughn takes you on a tour of the Flying Spur to highlight some of his favorite features and then takes you along on a live drive review. Joining those segments, Vaughn chats with host Wesley Wren about his time with the Bentley. The pair discuss the Flying Spur’s competition, its price, and more. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes the Flying Spur special.
