Tikvah’s purpose is to educate the rising generation of Jewish, Zionist, and American leaders and to advance the most serious thinking about the great challenges facing the Jewish people in the modern age. We seek to cultivate Jewish citizens with moral confidence and civic courage, informed by the hard-won lessons of Jewish history and devoted to strengthening Western civilization through Jewish ideas and institution-building.

To advance this mission, Tikvah operates intensive fellowship programs, summer institutes, working groups, and honors programs for students of all ages; and we produce publications, podcasts, conferences, and online courses that bring Tikvah’s ideas to the world.

Rabbi Hershel Lutch is the Chief Financial and Operating Officer of Tikvah and serves as its Corporate Secretary. In addition to leading Tikvah’s finance, administrative, business process reengineering, and operating functions, Rabbi Lutch helps direct Tikvah’s strategic planning, development, and program management initiatives. Before coming to Tikvah, Rabbi Lutch served as the Chief Operating Officer of Aish HaTorah, where he managed Aish’s dramatic growth into a $65 million organization, engaging over 700,000 participants each year.

The host Rabbi Yerachmiel Garfield Ed.D. is the Head of School of the rapidly growing Yeshiva Toras Emes in Houston Texas. He has previously served as a mesivta rebbe, assistant menahel, school counselor and adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University. In addition, he has written on chinuch topics for national publications, educational journals, and has presented multiple workshops. He is the founding director of the Yeshiva Leadership Group which provides networking and growth opportunities to Yeshiva school leadership.
