Grady works as a logger and meets Bridgett. He leads her into marijuana smoking and they fight. When his mother is dying of cancer, he prays for her healing but she dies, and Grady is bitter at God. At work a new mechanic is hostile and the two men become locked in a bitter and deadly fight. Grady marries Bridgett. A tree falls on him and, fearing death, he gives his life to God.. Still disabled, he is now a chaplain in prison ministry.
