Anora and Alice spend a rainy day painting new signs for Ahway Island. Now visitors will know how to relax.

Welcome Excerpt:

The falling rain drummed a steady beat on the roof of the house.  With a great gust of wind the rain increased the intensity of its rhythm.  Alice stopped and peered out the window.  It sure was dark outside.  As she watched rain drops roll down the window, thunder rumbled, telling Alice that today was an indoor day.  Alice felt her shoulders droop in disappointment.  Today Anora was coming over to play, and they always played outside.  Feeling her disappointment grow, Alice took a deep dragon breath in and out.  She knew Anora liked to keep busy. What could they do inside?  Alice took another deep dragon breath in and out and remembered finding the old Ahway Island sign.  She and Anora had decided that it would be nice to paint some new signs so that visitors could find Ahway Island and relax.  Alice looked at the clock.  She had about an hour before Anora would arrive.

 

Peeking into the study where her mom was busy working on her computer Alice asked, “Mom do we have any paint and some wood?” Alice’s mom stopped typing and looked up at her. “Well, we definitely have paint.  What do you need the wood for?” her mom responded, curious what her imaginative daughter was planning.
