Dan feels inferior because he stutters, is skinny and has buck teeth. His parents divorce when he is six, and he skips school to lift weights. He puts on muscles, excels at track and gets braces but still stutters. Alcohol helps with the stuttering, and he becomes addicted to booze and drugs. He marries Linda but their marriage suffers, and she leaves frequently, taking their daughters. A neighbor witnesses to them and Linda gets saved. Then Dan is arrested for DUI and he goes to church with Linda where he commits his life to Christ.
