3 Book Girls

October reads can get pretty dark, so we like to add a little humor before we scare the crap out of you!

Three nightmare inducing books are on the menu this week.

Maggie's Grave by David Sodergren

The Sixth Nik by Daniel Krauss

Saint Delilah by Isabelle Spotts

We always default to talk of candy this time of year, but in true book girl fashion some of it is obscene.

Do we have good books? Um, yes!

Sometimes I Scare Myself by Jeneva Rose

The Book of Accidents by Chuck Wendig

Crone by Keith Rossen

Welcome to the first week of spooky month! Martha returned from Italy with stories of phalluses, and Voni and Pat are willing to put up with her ramblings. Of course there are 3 spectacular horror recommendations lurking within this episode!

Play Nice by Rachel Harrison

Burn Line by Jonathan Sims

A Plagued Sea by Kim Bo-Young

Martha is still on vacation (she'll be back next week). The good news is that we have Taylor filling in. The bad news is that technical difficulties resulted in our losing a lot of her sections, so you can only hear her during the first part of the podcast, and all we have for her book review is a name mention. That also means this week's edition is shorter than usual. Apologies for the mishap, and we'd like to say it won't happen again, but technology being what it is ... we can't promise.

This week's books are:

It Came From Neverland by Cynthia Pelayo

Ararat by Christopher Golden (name mention only, no review)

A Good Person by Kirsten King

Martha is on vacation, but Fara and Phyllis are here, so the fun continues -- and we get to talk about 4 books this week :

Eleanor by Alice Loxton

Theo of Golden by Allen Levi

Jack of Hearts (book 1 of the Shilling and Florin series) by Kate Haley

It's Hard to Be an Animal by Robert Isaacs

Weird food, how to drive like a Republican, and of course, books! This week we review:

Priest by Sierra Simone

Vagabond by Tim Curry

The Infinite State by Richard Swan

It's amazing the filthy things you find in small town Wyoming convenience stores. Vacation aside, we reviewed some interesting books this week.

Dead Weight by Hildur Knútsdóttir

Black Bag by Luke Kennard

Food Person by Adam D. Roberts

From the wilds of Wyoming , all 3 Book Girls together in one house to discuss road trips, celebrity losses, and of course, books! This week we feature:

Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver

Acts of Violet by Margarita Montimore

Make Nice by Ryan Effgen

Do big thighs mean you will live longer? We have no idea but we do know about books! 3 excellent selections is what we have for you this week.

Wedding People by Allison Espach

All That's Unseen by Emilee Hackney

The 22 Murders of Madison May by Max Barry

Grudge, one of Pat's kitties had a health scare this week. We talked about a bunch of strange crap, but also reviewed 3 excellent books.

Happy Accidents by Jane Lynch

Catch the Devil by Pamela Colloff

Go Gentle by Maria Semple
