According to the FBI’s National Crime Information Centre, as of December 2019, there are over 87,000 active missing persons records, and their Uniform Crime Report estimates that the US had, as of 2019, around 250,000 unsolved murders. This number increases by about 6,000 each year. Looking at these astounding figures, it’s sad to think that the attention is so often exclusively given to a select group of cold cases, time and time again. Because of course, no case should slip through the cracks. No case should be forgotten about. But, sadly, many are.
