3 Old Geeks

Elijah Snow...Jakita Wagner...The Drummer...Axel Brass...John Stone...these are not household names when it comes to comics characters, but they should be!

This week, the Geeks tackle the highly underrated, underappreciated genre-spanning comic Planetary!  They discuss why this masterclass of written and visual storytelling by Warren Ellis and John Cassaday should be in the conversation as one of the all time greats.  The Best Movies of the 1980s lands on 1988 and the 3 Old Geeks Top 3 is the best costume changes (and in Lance's case, complete character redesigns)!  All this plus the latest industry news from Brian Needs One!

Thanks for listening!

The reviews of Batman: The Animated Series continue with a stinker of an episode in 'What is Reality?' and a pretty good one in 'I Am the Night'!

Keith's Komix has been in business for 25 years!  We were planning an all-star episode with multiple guests from the comics, television and movie industries...big stars!  Then of course 2020 happened...

So instead the boys did the next best thing, a review of the greatest comics crossover of all time, JLA/Avengers!  That's right, the Geeks' give their take on Kurt Busiek and George Perez's masterpiece featuring nearly every major character of both universes!  The special ten part series of the Best Movies of the 1980s continues with 1987!  And this week's 3 Old Geeks Top 3 is the worst costume changes!

We will have words with thee!

Thanks for listening!

The Geeks' journey into the DCAU continues!  This week's reviews feature only the second consensus five star episode (and Lance's favorite) 'Almost Got 'Im' and 'Birds of a Feather' where the Penguin attempts to join high society!

Take me out to the black,

While the Fox Network couldn't take the sky from us, they did deprive us of all but 14 episodes of the cult favorite TV series, Firefly!  This week, Browncoats Keith and Lance recruit Brian Needs One to the Independents and deep dive review and discuss favorite and least favorite episodes, favorite characters and the world building of the creators!  In keeping with the theme, this week's Top 3 is the Geeks' favorite Western films plus their favorite films of 1986!  All this plus the latest industry news!

Thanks for listening and Keep On Geekin' On...and keep flying...

It's an all return edition as the Geeks review the Batman: The Animated Series episodes 'Day of the Samurai' featuring the return of the ninja Kyodai Ken and 'Terror in the Sky' with the return of Man-Bat!

The Geeks couldn't record this week because 2020...

So harkening back to the great anthology comics like Marvel Spotlight and DC Showcase, the week's issue is a compilation of unpublished material!  We begin with the debate (well not so much a debate since they were all unanimous) of the Best Decade of Movies that spurred on the 10 part series of the Geeks' favorite films of the 1980s!  Then it's a trio of Top 3 lists covering the boys' favorite movie opening scenes, the best movie death scenes and their least favorite alternate takes on comics characters!  All this plus *Lance* covers the latest industry news!

When the going gets tough, the tough get geeky!  Thanks for listening and Keep On Geekin' On!

Bad episodes make for great reviews!  In an all anthropomorphic extravaganza,  the Geeks tackle the Batman: The Animated episodes 'Tyger Tyger' and "Moon of the Wolf'!

Keeeith!   Briiian!  Laaance!  *ahem*  Sorry, the shouting of names is an anime standard, and the Geeks just wanted to get into the groove as they talk all things anime!

That's right, this week is all about Japan's most famous cultural export!  The boys review the groundbreaking anime film Akira and discuss its cultural impact and the strange parallels to today's social unrest.  They start things out with their Top 3 Favorite anime series/films.  And the ten part special reaches its midpoint with the boys favorite films of 1985!

Thanks for listening and Keep On Geekin' On!

The Geeks continue their series of reviews of Batman: The Animated Series with the episodes 'If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?' featuring the debut of the Riddler and perhaps the weakest Joker episode 'Joker's Wild'!
