Cathie and her sister are late-in-life babies whose parents send them to church but otherwise let them do as they please. Both girls run wild, smoking, drinking and sleeping around. Cathie runs away several times with different boys, marries and divorces and uses drugs. She thinks she’s a Christian but the first part ends as she gets her second divorce and second abortion.
