"The Team Mechanic":
Trent Hotton is a former AFL player who founded his own company "Team Effect" after he spent two years in the UK where he also opened a business in 'training and leadership' to help him advance in that field. Overall, he spent 4 years in the AFL and after two rather disappointing seasons with Collingwood he managed to return 4 years later and played two more season with Carlton before finishing his career in the Australian Football League.
In today's episode Trent and me spent most of the time talking about various topics around building a team culture and developing a value system in a team. We talked about the importance of communication amongst the players as well as staff, what it means to give the players ownership and giving them the opportunity to have more input in what's going on. We talked about leadership, trust, reputation, fear of failure as well as other practical parts of his profession.
