On the morning of June 28th 1959 the torso of a white male was found just outside of Attalla Alabama near Gadsden. Just eleven days later they would find another one up the highway in Asheville. The faces of the men were so badly disfigured they were referred to simply as Mr. X and Mr. Y.
Newspapers shouted headlines about the Torso murders from every corner. The entire state of Alabama was in such a frenzy,  that no one even suspected that an unassuming farm girl could be the culprit.
