There’s nothing more terrifying than a blood-curdling scream breaking through the peaceful silence of an old farmhouse. In a matter of a moment, a once serene environment is hurled into hell on earth.  

That’s probably what it felt like to the Kiger family on the night of August 17, 1943. The entire family was viciously attacked that night in Boone County Kentucky, all except their 15-year-old daughter, Joan. She didn’t have a scratch on her.
