The cryptic letters drawn in the blood of an unknown man shot dead in an apartment complex hallway in Alexandria Virginia on October 4th, 1996.  That would be a hell of a thing if it had basis in anything other than a misremembered fourth season episode of The X-Files. In reality, it stands for "Exit, Loyalty, Voice and Neglect" and each is a way that a person responds to declining quality in a relationship or institution they are a part of.  You've done it before-- you quit a failing relationship, toughed out a problem at work, complained about an issue and also just stopped giving a fuck entirely.  But what causes people to respond in these different ways?
