I catch up with my professor and mentor Michael Harper today. He is the department head at UVU for what is Utah's first 4-year bachelor's program in digital product design.
We chat about what he has learned from graduating the first full cohort (which I was a part of) and what he is adjusting in the curriculum to adapt to the changing times.
The most important thing we discuss is how to stand out as a design student. We are of the opinion that Product Design isn't something you can be accredited with and instantly be qualified. It's a craft that requires practice and dedication.
This episode talks about how you can become that kind of designer who is amazing at the craft and stand out from the influx of students coming into the field.
