Graduate student, Ben Coatney takes a break to sit down and discuss his experience as the conducting graduate assisstant at UNO. Ben uses physical and emotional wellness to stay productive everyday and acheive in his graduate studies.

High-school band director, Dr. Michelle Bluford visits us from Elkhorn NE to speak about emotional and spiritual wellness. Bluford origionally planned on goin to college to become a lawyer but insted took a different path to make music education her career. She has years of experience with students and continues to “throw starfish”.

Undergraduate student, Lydia Kirkland shares her experience as a music student living through a pandemic.  Kirkland discusses how finding ways to socialize has helped her musicianship and emotional wellness.  

UNO alumnus, Kenia Sanchez is a licensed athletic trainer and health and wellness coach for the Turner/Facebook Construction Site. During her graduate studies, Sanchez discovered a passion for exercise, including weight lifting and cardiovascular health.  She gives an insight on physical wellness and how to start a healthy routine on top of a loaded schedule.

Tenured professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Dr. Karen Fannin, joins the podcast to discuss how Physical and Emotional wellness has helped her juggle being a musician and a mother. Dr. Fannin speaks on her daily routines and how important they are to her lifestyle.  

Undergraduate student, Marissa Mathia, speaks on Emotional and Spiritual wellness as a musician. Being a music student requires hours of practice, especially before a vital event such as a sophomore continuation. Mathia speaks on how she mentally prepared for her continuation as well as her junior piano recital.
