We want to acknowledge the passing of Cicely Tyson at the age of 96:
Cicely Tyson was one of the first black actresses in Hollywood to break barriers on the big screen for black women and black men and a major fighter for civil rights along with actor Paul Robeson.
She played in the first major love story and loving scene of to black people in the film “Sounder”. She played as Harriet Tubman in the Television series “A Woman Called Moses”, and as Correta Scott King in the Television Series “King”.
She has mentored young people through a Performing Arts School that a neighborhood in New Jersey named after her. Her last tweet was a acknowledging and uplifting Amanda Gorman, the young black poet at the 2021 Presidential Inauguration.
Cicely Tyson came out with her book Just As I Am, was published January 26, 2021 before she passed on on January 28, 2021. She was a very health conscious person and showed how black women with dignity and self-respect aged like fine wine. Cicely Tyson is the recipient of many awards [Oscar, Emmy’s, Tony, Peabody, and entered the Television Hall Fame in 2020]and will be surely missed.
A second person we would like to acknowledge is March Hannah was born in 1956 in Chicago, Illinois. An electrical engineer & computer graphics designer, he received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1977 at Illinois Institute of Technology & M.S./Ph.D at Stanford in 1978/1985. Co-founding the computer graphics technology company Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI), Hannah built quite the reputation for himself in the tech & Hollywood entertainment markets. His technology company has also been used to design cars, airplanes, & military virtual simulation training.
