To mark the release of 50 Cent’s new Netflix documentary on Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs, we’re dropping a special super-episode stitched together from five of our most talked-about segments from the past two seasons.  In this extended deep dive, we revisit the rumors and allegations that have followed Puff Daddy for decades.  We explore everything from the early industry whispers that shaped his rise, to the darker stories that have surfaced in tabloids, civil filings, and jailhouse lore.  Of note, these episodes were all recorded prior to the criminal trial, in which he was acquitted of almost all charges and sentenced to 50 months in jail with time served for two counts of transportation for the purpose of prostitution.  He continues to face civil charges, with over 100 lawsuits filed and 77 still pending at the time of this release.

This episode is a re-release of one of our earliest recordings.  When we originally covered this story, it centered on a viral video in which internet users claimed that news outlets had reported a famous Mexican model alleging she witnessed cannibalism among the rich and famous.  Our focus at the time was on verifying whether credible media sources had actually reported those claims.  This episode was recorded well before later online speculation attempted to connect the woman to Jeffrey Epstein, and reflects the context and information available at that time.  That being said, we standby our assessments from this episode and further discuss our thoughts on the connection between Jeffrey Epstein and Gabriela Rico Jimenez in Epstein Files Part 1.

This week we are re-releasing a listener favorite from season 1, in which we did a deep dive into one of the strangest viral moments of the late 2000s.   On August 4, 2009, cameras caught a young woman named Gabriela Rico Jiménez outside a luxury hotel in Mexico, accusing high-profile figures of kidnapping, murder, and even cannibalism.  Police led her away on live television, and then she vanished from the public eye entirely.  Did Gabriela stumble too close to something powerful?  Or is this another case where rumor overtook reality?

Thanksgiving is stuffed with myths, misnomers, and stories that have been reheated so many times they’ve basically turned into folklore.  So in this episode, we’re going to carve into some of the most persistent ones.  What is the true origin story of the holiday? Did Ben Franklin really campaign for the turkey to be our national bird, or is that just a factoid people like to drop between bites of stuffing? What’s the true, somewhat mystical-sounding origin of the wishbone tradition, and how did we collectively decide to snap poultry anatomy for luck? And of course, pumpkin pie: the beloved dessert that, ironically, is almost never made from actual pumpkin.  So settle in, maybe grab a plate of leftovers, and let’s untangle the tall tales hiding behind this very American celebration.

Last month, the Louvre museum’s Galerie d'Apollon was the target of a brazen heist, with four men fleeing with eight pieces of French Crown Jewels valued at over $100 million USD or €88 million.  Disguised as construction workers and using a truck-mounted lift, two of the suspects accessed a first-floor window, cut into display cases, and fled via motorbikes with their loot.  The heist immediately generated a search for the jewels and suspects, as well as a plethora of other questions.  How did the thieves know exactly which window was weak, which display cases to target, and how to orchestrate a clean, rapid escape?  Was this an opportunistic crime, or a deliberately orchestrated inside job?  Questions also circulated surrounding the lack of surveillance and intrusion protocols despite previous security audits and known vulnerabilities.  With key items still missing and suspects only partially cooperating, theories abound -  Were the four thieves part of a larger network?  And what was the motive?  Could this have been a commissioned theft for a private collector, or were the pieces dismantled, recut, and resold with assistance of an underground network?  Today we’ll discuss what we know about the Louvre Heist, focusing on the possibilities of a larger conspiracy.

On October 9, 2013, 14 year old Abigail Hernandez disappeared while walking home from school in North Conway, NH – a small town with a population of about 2000.  The school librarian reported seeing her walking in the direction of her home at 2:30 PM, and she was not seen again for nine months.  While she was missing, her mom never gave up the search for her – convinced that she was alive and being held against her will.  Her father on the other hand, claimed that she had likely just runaway.  The only sign of life was a letter mailed to her mother, which was received nearly a month after the disappearance – letting her know that she was alive and apologizing for leaving.  This letter, as well as the lack of crime in NH, led to the accepted belief amongst the locals that Abby had likely conspired to willingly disappear.  The public was outspoken with their disdain for the young girl, and what they perceived to be a drain on finances and resources spent looking for her.  It was known that she likely couldn’t have survived on her own - did she have an older boyfriend that she had run away with?  Theories had circulated around the school that she had fled due to a teen pregnancy.  Conspiracy theories only got worse 9 months later when she walked through the front door of the home she shared with her mom and sister.  She was wearing the same clothing she had been wearing when she disappeared.  She refused to tell anyone where she had been or what had happened to her.  So what really happened in those missing 9 months?  Was Abby the victim of a terrible crime?  Or the perpetrator of a horrendous conspiracy?

The Life and Death Brigade on Gilmore Girls, Chuck Bass being kidnapped by a secret society during a college visit to Yale, Joshua Jackson and Paul Walker joining a dangerous secret society in the 2000 movie The Skulls... These are all pop culture references to one of the most famous secret societies on one of the most elite college campuses in the US.  This society, which selects 15 members annually from one of the most exclusive campuses in the world, was allegedly inspired by the Freemasons.  It is rumored that after graduation, members known as Bonesmen, are placed in high ranking positions in government, banking, law, education, and intelligence agencies to shape policy after graduation.  The 2,600 Patriarchs, or members who have since graduated, include 3 former presidents - President William Taft, George HW Bush, and George W Bush; leaders in business - like the founder of FedEx, founder of Time, Life, and Fortune Magazines, the CEO of Blackstone, and dynasties like the Rockefeller and Ford families; as well was leaders in finance, politicians on the state and federal level, high ranking government advisors, supreme court justices, University professors/presidents, journalists, athletes, and Hollywood stars. The 2004 presidential election actually pitted 2 Patriarchs – George W Bush and John Kerry, against each other, with both refusing to comment when asked about their membership.  What are the odds that the last 2 men standing in a battle for leadership of the US are both members of this secret society?  Is this secret society really a breeding ground for a powerful network of people that are secretly running the US?  Is it a branch of a larger network that with European ties manipulating us from the inside? Today we are going to learn about the secret society, and decide if it's just a club for high achieving college kids, or if there is something more sinister at play.

In today's episode, we are diving into the viral conspiracy culture - specifically the theory that Garth Brooks is a serial killer.  Are his friends in low places.... really in low places?  When Garth was in college in Oklahoma, a young girl was murdered.  Then, he moved to Nashville in 1987 and worked at the Boot Barn, and again - during the period he was there, multiple women went missing.  If you track his tour schedule, there seems to be a cluster of missing or murdered unsolved cases at each of his stops.  So buckle up, because this one’s equal parts creepy, funny, and unsettling.  Whether you think it’s just a running joke—or something stranger—this episode will have you asking: "Where are the bodies, G?"

In the fall of 1888, London was a booming metropolis under economic strain due to the massive influx up immigrants and refugees.  Whitechapel, an area in the East End, was an overcrowded neighborhood with poor employment and dire economic conditions.  As a result, many women were forced into casual prostitution to survive - and it was many of these women who fell victim to an unknown serial killer lurking in the dark, shadowed alleyways.  The killer was named "Jack the Ripper", either a self proclaimed nickname or one coined by the press, but beyond that alias the killer's identity remains a secret even 130 years later.  For more than a century, whispers have persisted that the Ripper murders were not the work of a lone madman, but part of a deeper conspiracy.  Theories have pointed to royal cover-ups, Masonic plots, and a police force accused of burying the truth.  This week, as we approach the end of True Crimeber - we are discussing one last British mystery - the story of Jack the Ripper and the conspiracy theories related to his…or her… potential identity.

Lord Lucan, the 7th Earl of Lucan, vanished in 1974 under circumstances so strange they have fueled decades of conspiracy theories. On November 7, his family’s nanny, Sandra Rivett, was brutally murdered, and his estranged wife, Veronica, survived a violent attack. While police named Lucan as the prime suspect, he disappeared without a trace that night, leaving behind a cryptic note to his mother and hints that he might have planned his escape. Some theorists suggest that Lucan didn’t just flee—he orchestrated a perfect vanishing act, using his wealth, aristocratic connections, and meticulous planning to vanish from the public eye and start a new life abroad.  The mythos of Lord Lucan continues to grow because there is no closure. No body, no confirmed sightings, no final confession—just endless speculation. Lucan was declared legally dead in 1999, 25 years after his disappearance, though conspiracy theories about his survival persist.
