In today’s episode, I’m chatting with Dr. Sarah Silverman, a Stanford-trained sleep psychologist, holistic sleep wellness consultant, and insomnia expert with over a decade of experience. Dr. Sarah treats a wide variety of sleep problems in private practice using a personalized, mindfulness-based treatment approach. Notably, she is an expert in Cognitive Behavior Therapy for insomnia (CBTi), the first-line, drug-free treatment for adults with chronic insomnia. In this episode, we dive deep into the topic of sleep, covering topics including the common causes of insomnia, non-medication treatments for common sleep problems, “social jet lag”, how sunlight affects our sleep, the stages of a sleep cycle, the accuracy of Oura rings and other sleep tracking devices, Dr. Sarah’s professional opinion on naps, melatonin, and sleeping in, and so much more!
