Captain Lorca.

We first meet Captain Gabriel Lorca in “Context Is for Kings,” the third episode of Star Trek: Discovery, and quickly learn that his command and leadership style is vastly different from that of any captain we’ve seen before. He is flippant, abrasive, and obsessed with winning the war against the Klingons. And, as we later learn, he has ulterior motives.

In this episode of The Edge, hosts Amy Nelson and Patrick Devlin are joined by Ken Tripp of Standard Orbit to discuss the intricacies of Lorca’s command style and his varied interactions with his crew. We discuss his autocratic approach to leadership and how the crew responds.
