When residents of Blatchford Carbon Neutral Community in Edmonton, Alberta, moved in, the community garden was already there!
Ever since the beginning, the raised beds and garden spaces were oversubscribed by residents looking to grow their own organic, local, sustainable food.
Interest in community gardening is surging with more than 80 community gardens in Edmonton, but as we learn in our story, funding for projects has been cut.
We talk to Kenzie Gordon, the Blatchford Community Garden Coordinator, Laura Cunningham-Shelpeley of the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues and Heather MacKenzie, a Blatchford Resident.
