Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a ratable VA Disability under the 38 CFR, Part 4, Schedule for Rating Disabilities, under Diagnostic Code 7319 - Irritable Colon Syndrome. Irritable Colon Syndrome Veterans Benefits Veterans who are granted Service Connection for IBS can expect to receive either a 0%, 10%, or 30% for Irritable Colon Syndrome Veterans Benefits depending on their Severity of Symptoms. IBS is commonly filed as a Secondary Service-Connected Disability, meaning that is was caused or made worse by an already Service-Connected Disability.
The Requirements for Secondary Service Connection are: 1) Medical diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome 2) The Disability that caused or made the IBS worse is already Service Connected 3) Must be MEDICAL NEXUS Evidence connecting the two conditions!
