We have between 50,000-70,000 thoughts every single day, yet God tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:5 to take our thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ.

That can seem almost impossible, right?  The only way that we can do that is to begin thinking about what we are thinking about. What is going through your mind? What are you allowing to go through your mind?

The devil preys on our minds. He knows our insecurities…or make us believe that we have insecurities. He knows the thinks that we struggle with and those are the lies that he feeds to us each day. 

Lies that tell us things like we’re worthless, we’re not important, nobody likes us, we’ll always be alone, nobody loves us, we’re ugly, we’re a failure, we’re not accepted.

1 Peter 5:8-the beginning of verse 9 says, “be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking who he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in faith. 

That word sober means that we need to keep things in proper perspective. 

The devil cannot hurt us with his lies if we know the Truth of who God says that we are.

• He’s just a big old kitten that has had his teeth removed, his claws removed and has been defeated once and for all. 
• The devil is not a lion…he is like a lion—he pretends to be a lion….Jesus is the True Lion! 
• The devil may have a big roar…it may seem like the lies that he is telling us are truth, but in reality he can’t hurt you if you know who you are. 
• The only way that the devil can hurt you is if you give into his roar through doubting the words of God and believing his lies or his deceptions.
• When you know what God’s word says and you don’t give into his lies, he will not be able to devour you.

 John 8:32 says that when we know the truth…the Word of God, it’s that truth that we know that makes us free. It makes us free from all the enemy’s lies and deceptions. It’s makes us free from insecurities and feeling like we aren’t enough. It makes us free in every area of our lives.

 Earlier we talked about that we needed to start thinking about what we were thinking about in order to make sure that we don’t give into the lies of the enemy, but practically what does that look like?
