In anticipation of our Money Chisme in person event in LA on 7/20, I wanted to have Tamarindo Podcast founder and co-host, Brenda Gonzalez on the podcast to chat all about what it really takes to not just start a podcast but to keep the momentum going into their SEVENTH year! We also talk about allyship and do some impromptu money coaching.
Brenda Gonzalez is a political nerd, public speaker, and nonprofit capacity-builder. She has over 15 years of experience working with community based organizations, most recently at a national Latino civil rights organization. Brenda co-founded Tamarindo podcast in 2016 with the mission to use comedy and laughter to illuminate important issues impacting the Latinx community.
Brenda’s experience as a formerly undocumented student shaped her interests in politics and she taught American Government at Cal State Fullerton before she was able to vote. She brings her passion for politics to the show often in the form of comical rants. She writes and speaks about politics, gender, and civil rights.
Originally from Puebla, Mexico, Brenda resides in Los Angeles and is a self-appointed ambassador of Tacos Arabes, Cemitas, Mole, y Chiles en Nogada. Catch Brenda on 9-hour hikes or leading boot camp fitness classes. Save your spot for our Money Chisme in person event on 7/20 in Highland Park here!
