An out-of-control Brisbane house party organised by students from Brisbane Boys College has left the owner with a hefty damage bill.

Police were called to the home in East Brisbane about 7.45 pm on Saturday, with officers dispersing a large group of people, some of whom had allegedly paid to attend the party.

Footage captured that night shows hundreds of revellers at the property, damaging everything from the plumbing to throwing expensive appliances and a mower directly into the pool.

The results of last year’s Aussie Bird Count are in, with 57-thousand people taking part to count 4.1 million birds from around the country.

The week-long national event took place in October last year and the data has revealed that no two states share the same top 3 birds.

The suggestion to impose a 'bed tax' on tourism to Queensland holiday destinations has received mixed reviews.

Queensland Tourism Industry Council CEO, Natassia Wheeler told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, "Theres so much work and discussion that needs to take place on this topic to determine how we fund tourism and what mechanism we fund this through."

"We cant just say this is going to be the mechanism, we need to bring everybody together to determine where we need to get to, how we get there, and who collects them.

The Mayors of Brisbane, Gold Coast, Cairns, and Whitsundays have written to the Premier to enforce a 'bed tax' for tourists visiting Queensland. 

 This is not a new idea, as many countries around the world are taxing tourists.

Sofie Formica said on 4BC Afternoons, "But in my mind the visitor levy should not be viewed as a punishment."

"In a nutshell, if we want tourism to thrive for generations we need the funds to do that, and this is a smart and sensible step forward," Sofie continued.
