In the lead up to Anzac Day, 4BC Drive will be speaking with those who embody the spirit of service. 

Major Ross Eastgate OAM served in the Australian Army for 47 years.

His career began in cadets, before he officially joined in 1968, and it only ended when they told him he had to leave at age 65.

Major Estgate joined Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive to discuss his life and service to Australia.

A 4BC Drive listener reached out to the team after a battle to get NDIS support for her injured daughter.

Robyn's daughter, Katrina, was involved in a car crash in 2015 that left her with permanent injuries. However, she hasn't received any support from the NDIS.

Robyn told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "It took seven years before she got compensated. So that was only three years ago."

"In between that, we applied...for the NDIS, because her medical reports were too old. They said, you'll have to put in a new application, but she will need to go back and see specialists once again to get up-to-date reports."

 "We're not asking for the world. We just want a bit of support for Katrina," Robyn continued.

The Vatican has confirmed that Pope Francis has passed away after a stroke, causing a coma and 'irreversible' heart failure. 

No funeral date has been set, but it is expected to take place between Friday and Sunday. 

Brisbane woman Jo Hayes, who met Pope Francis, told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "It was a very precious moment to meet the man."

"I was in Rome, the Vatican, for an international meeting of the Benedictines, which I'm part of that particular order of the church."

"Just truly precious, wonderful, a very sacred moment and a rather rare moment that has been made all the more cherished for me now that the man has passed on to eternal glory," Ms Hayes continued.

Research from the University of the Sunshine Coast has found there are widespread 'neuromyths' among early childhood educators. 

The research surveyed more than 520 Australian early childhood educators in 2022 to understand neuroscience knowledge. 

Professor of Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Kate Williams, told Dean Miller on 4BC Drive, "It's really hard to debunk some of these ingrained myths."

"Educators and parents are looking for ways to understand, you know, their young people and support them."

"So it's understandable that we're looking for these stories that might help us understand and work better with children. But unfortunately, there's just so much we don't know about the brain," Professor Williams continued.

Richmond is a town halfway between Mount Isa and Townsville. 

The town has faced flooding that has significantly impacted western Queensland. 

Mayor of Richmond, John Warburton, told Dean Miller on 4BC Drive, "Mainly all the transport and main roads, connections should be okay. There's going to be some flood damage on them."

"The country looks spectacular, honestly."

"I've been out here all my life, and this is probably the best we've seen this country up here in the last ten years," Mayor Warburton continued.
