Castle Law was raised at an anti-crime rally in Cairns on the weekend, and approximately 40,000 Queenslanders have signed a petition from Katter’s Australian Party calling for its introduction. 

The law would protect homeowners from prosecution if they use force in defence against an intruder. 

Katter’s Australian Party leader and Member for Traeger, Robbie Katter, told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "It's about sending signals out there and some kids that unfortunately have just not seen consequences for their crimes in their young adult life."

"If we can't get that from our police and other means, well, it's going to come in some form."

"If it's there, well, it's going to help send a signal to the market, to the these kids that, it's not the way to go," Mr Katter continued.

Kerbside collection has been underway for the past few weeks, but the Brisbane City Council has confirmed it will be suspended until further notice. 

Civic Cabinet Chair of City Standards, Councillor Sarah Hutton, told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "There are a number of suburbs that it is suspended for, so that's Hawthorne, Hemet, Lota, Wynnum, and Lytton, so that's for this week."

"And also next week Belmont, Chandler, Gumdale, Manly, Ransom, and Wynnum West."

"If you are in those suburbs and you do have items out on the curb, if you can actually bring them in, it would be enormously helpful."

"But with this tropical cyclone off the coast, we really need to make sure that safety is the priority," Councillor Hutton continued.

In recent years, many bank branches have closed across Australia. 

According to the government, approximately 36 percent of regional bank branches have closed since 2017. 

However, Queensland Country Bank is opening a new branch in Maroochydore in April.

Queensland Country Bank CEO Aaron Newman told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "I think it just makes sense for us to have a physical presence in that location to support the growth in the community."

"We've had a presence there with a lending centre for the last couple of years, and it's been a tremendous success," Mr Newman continued.

Toowoomba is making a strong push to host equestrian events for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, with plans to turn the Toowoomba Showgrounds into a world-class venue.

A central element of this bid involves repurposing the Wellcamp quarantine facility as an athletes' village.

Out of Australia’s five largest cities, Brisbane residents are paying the most for fuel.

A report from the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission found Brisbane’s average retail petrol prices were the highest at 186.4 cents per litre.

 Economist and Affordability Specialist at the RACQ, Dr Ian Jeffreys, told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "Brisbane has consistently been the most expensive out of all of the large capitals."

"They've said it's down to market conditions as if market conditions are somehow and on a stone tablet somewhere. But, market conditions are the choices the fuel companies make," Dr Jeffreys said.
