SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK: I'm Just a Bill (Schoolhouse Rock!) - YouTube
Nurse Practitioners Modernization Act: In 2015, New York State adopted the Nurse Practitioners Modernization Act to remove required written practice agreements between physicians and nurse practitioners (NPs) with at least 3,600 hours of practice experience. https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2021/s3056
The CARES Act permanently authorizes PAs (physician assistants) and nurse practitioners (NPs) to order home healthcare services for Medicare patients (in a manner consistent with state law). As healthcare facilities gird for an influx of COVID-19 patients, capacity will become a critical issue, and this authorization will ease some of that burden. https://www.aanp.org/news-feed/aanp-applauds-president-trump-on-signing-of-cares-act
AANP and AAPA are supporting legislation to improve Medicare patients with diabetes access to therapeutic shoes. 2,3 The new bill Promoting Access to Diabetic Shoes Act, S.800, would authorize NPs to certify their patients’ need for therapeutic shoes.Promoting Access to Diabetic Shoes Act This bill allows a nurse practitioner or physician assistant to fulfill documentation requirements for coverage, under Medicare, of special shoes for diabetic individuals. Under current law, such requirements may be satisfied only by a physician. https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/
Use this tool to send a message to legislatures in support of this bill. Takes 2 minutes! https://www.aanp.org/advocacy/advocacy-center

The NLC is an agreement among member states to honor nurse licensure of other member states for registered and practical/vocational nurses. https://www.ncsbn.org/nurse-licensure-compact.htm Nurse Practitioners are not included in NLC
