Skateistan is an international nonprofit organization that uses skateboarding as a tool for empowering youth, particularly in underprivileged communities. Founded in Afghanistan, it provides education, leadership opportunities, and safe spaces for children, especially girls, through a combination of skateboarding and creative learning. Skateistan's programs aim to build confidence, foster inclusion, and promote social change by combining sports with educational activities.

Melissa Williams is an Olympic skateboarder from Cape Town South Africa. She recently coached Boipelo Awuah at the 2024 Woman’s Olympic qualification events. Melissa is one of the Founding members of The Skate Smiles Club which is an organisation that has supported Women in Skateboarding Since 2018.
