Kentucky's Republican state senators and representatives will honor retiring Senator Mitch McConnell, the longest serving Senate party leader in U.S. history, with a statue in Frankfort's Capitol Rotunda.

WHAS Radio's Terry Meiners discusses McConnell's impact on Kentucky prominence and abundant federal funding - "punching above our weight" in the senator's words - leading to this honor.

Democrats, most notably, Governor Andy Beshear, are not thrilled with the idea of honoring McConnell alongside statues of Abraham Lincoln, Henry Clay, and Ephraim McDowell.

Louisville author and raconteur David Domine wrote the book MURDER IN GLITTERBALL CITY, centered on a heinous murder in a classic Old Louisville. It's been turned into an HBO docuseries with Domine as a consultant on the show.

David retells the story and says that it is actually inspiring more tourism to this legendary section of the city.

Archbishop Shelton Fabre visited WHAS Radio and discussed a reawakening of faith, global respect for the Catholic Church, community service, and his nerve-racking assignment of throwing out the first pitch at next week's season opener for the Louisville Bats.

Father Cole McDowell joined the archbishop ahead of his assignment of singing the National Anthem at the baseball game.
