Everybody's ultra running journey is different. This is the first year I ran ultra marathons consistently, and I wanted to share step-by-step the entire year of not only how it went, but how many miles I ran, how much my heart rate was, what I messed up on, what I want to improve on, and what maybe you can expect if you're getting into ultra running.
Sometimes we know what to improve on, but it's the things we don't see that can blindside us. The mistakes we make on race day, the mistakes we make in training. In this episode, Kramer talks about the five mistakes that he has made in his training and how he learned to fix them so that you can accomplish your goals more realistically and quicker when it comes to ultra running.
Pacing a trail run is much different than pacing flat ground. You must go more on intuition. You must have a little different preparation, and then it all comes down to the distance you're running. In this episode, Kramer talks about things to consider when looking at how to run your fastest time on trails.
Learning to run further and further distances is hard mentally and physically, in this episode, Kramer breaks down the three big goals you need to get your fitness ready to run a 100K. Whether you're someone who doesn't run at all or you're someone who's running frequently, the tips in this episode will point you in the right direction.
There's a legend of the first marathon, but the actual first marathon was recorded in 1896 at the Olympics. The story is fascinating, with runners sprinting the entire time until they fell over or until they won the race. This episode tells that story.

Poor hydration during long-distance running is one of the most common self-induced performance problems. The good news is that it’s preventable, but hydration can quickly become confusing if you don’t understand the basics. There are many factors involved. In this episode, Kramer breaks down a practical approach to hydration strategy, including when to use carbohydrates, electrolytes, and plain water. Each has its place, but the key is finding the right balance. Don’t overdrink, and definitely don’t underdrink.
