I can page through my journal and pinpoint some rendition of this sentence, especially in the Saturday entries: " I probably wasn't as productive as I should have been." Sound familiar?

The truth is, whether we realize it or not, we often operate like machines, rather than live like human beings. We treat ourselves and others like a commodity or a means to end, rather than a living, breathing person made in the image of God. We fail to recognize the whole of our human stories.
