Our guest today is Bree from In Love and Words YouTube channel to chat about all things audiobooks. Bree is an avid audiobook listener who uses a variety of services. In this episode, Bree shares different apps and subscription services for you to start listening to audiobooks.

If you are new to audiobooks, we share tips and tricks to add them to your daily life. We share a few narrator suggestions for you to try on, as they will enhance your audio experience.

SERVICES FOR AUDIOBOOKS:

Libro.fm* - with Libro.fm you can support indie bookstores while paying the same as Audible for a monthly membership if you are new to Libro.fm, you can use code WHATTOREADNEXT to get two audiobooks on your first month’s membership.

Audible-* There are various membership options but being a Premium Plus member will allow you access to their sales. When Audible has a sale, you won’t want to miss it. In addition, Audible offers original content that is only available through their app.

Library Services: If you want to listen to audiobooks for free, then libraries will be your BFF.
Here are some tips and tricks:
  1. If your library doesn’t offer a good selection, consider investing in a non-resident library card. If you are looking for suggestions for where to start, check out our Non-Resident Library Card Guide.
  2. Libby: is an app that allows you to borrow and listen to audiobooks. Yes, there may be hold times, but it is easy to use. You can add multiple library cards, and Libby will find you the shortest time to wait for your book.
  3. Hoopla Digital - This is a separate app that some libraries offer where you can instantly borrow audiobooks. Hoopla offers a lot of new releases and indie romances. If you are wondering how to add multiple libraries on Hoopla Digital, check out our Ultimate Guide to Hoopla Digital

Scribd*: This is a more mysterious audiobook service. It is an unlimited audiobook service, but it is not. You can listen to audiobooks until you hit a specific limit, but you won’t know when. Here are the pros: Scribd offers various indie romances, new releases, and backlist titles. If you are looking for a good deal, I will encourage you to invest in an annual membership since you will save $50. Click on this link if you want a 60-day free trial.

AnyPlay: If you love Scribd, but would like to have access to unlimited audiobooks, then Anyplay is for you. The pros: AnyPlay offers various indie romances, new releases, and backlist titles. The cost is cheaper than Scribd as you can pay less than $90 for an annual membership, or if you want to pay for three months, it costs $26. The cons: the search feature could be clearer, and the fastest speed to listen to an audiobook is 1.75.
