  • Episode 27 - A Famine of Worship Psalm 42 - 43

    Send us Fan Mail

Most of us are familiar with the hymn, "As the Deer." That hymn was based on Psalm 42. But what is the Psalmist in Psalm 42 really talking about? Some contemporary songs have used the words of Psalm 42 to mean that God is drawing us out to deeper waters. But that's not what this Psalm is saying. The real meaning is much more ominous. Join us as we discuss Psalm 42 & 43

Few of us like to think that God will intentionally set His Eyes on His people for evil. But through the prophet, Amos, God tells us that is exactly what He will do. • Episode 21 - For Love's Sake - 1 Kings 3:16 - 28

    Send us Fan Mail

King Solomon is presented with two mothers - both of whom have had a son, but only one son has survived. To find out who the real mother is, Solomon declares that he will cut the living boy in two and give half to each. The real mother immediately speaks up and pleads for the baby not to be killed, but instead, be given alive to the other woman.  She was willing to sacrifice what she loved most in this world for the sake of her son. This passage is about so much more than a mother willing to give up her son just to save his life. It is about what we are willing to give up for the sake of the Son. Join us as we see this reoccurring theme throughout Scripture.

  • Episode 20 - The New in the Old - Psalm 40

    Send us Fan Mail

When we take the time to really read our Bible – to see the connections between the Old Testament and New Testament,  it leaves absolutely no doubt that while God used many different men – from different time periods, different backgrounds, different educations, different vocations – all very different – that ultimately there has to be only 1 Author, because otherwise Scripture could never be as intentional, orderly, and cohesive as it is.

Psalm 40 is a great example of this. A Psalm given to David, yet the foreshadowing and connection it has to the New Testament is amazing. Join us as we look at the correlations!

  • Episode 19 - The Faithful Have Vanished - Psalm 12

    Send us Fan Mail

At first read, it seems like David is describing the unbelieving pagan world in Psalm 12. But at closer glance, we see that he is actually speaking of those who profess to be amongst God's people. These 8 verses offer both a strong warning about "the faithful" vanishing , and the antidote for dealing with it. Join us as we discuss!

  • Episode 18 - Lead Us Not into Temptation - 2 Sam. 24:1 - 2, 1 Chron. 21:1 - 2

    Send us Fan Mail

When you read the Bible chronologically, you catch some things you may miss when reading straight through from Genesis to Revelation. Take 2 Samuel 24 and 1 Chronicles 21, for example. In 2 Samuel, the verses say that God incited David to take a census of his army, while 1 Chronicles says it was Satan that incited David. Why the disparity? Who actually incited David? Is this a contradiction in Scripture? Join us as we discuss!
