This episode features my good friend Chamberlain Iocovozzi. In this episode, we discuss Chamberlain’s strength, life experiences, and dealing with divorce. She tells her story of courage, healing, and how we should normalize divorce, in the hopes that a lot of you can connect with that. If you have any thoughts about dating people who have been married, this episode dives deeper into the resistance to that.
“I put up with it. In my head, no one’s going to think I’m attractive, no one’s going to like my personality. I think I lost a lot of personalities when I was in that relationship, but I was so scared to leave it because I’ve been in it for so long.”
“My first thought wasn’t my marriage, my first thought was that my Dad was going to be disappointed.”
“If you are unsure at all of marrying a person, there’s no one forcing your hand to do that.”
“I remember seeing all the boxes, and just the feeling of relief.”
“When people hear my story, they say sorry. But first of all, they did nothing wrong. You really have to go through hard things to figure things out.”
“After going to therapy, I got so much out, not just to my therapist, but to my family and friends. Therapy is truly a game-changer for me.”
“Allow, trust, and explore. You’re kind of figuring it out before you get the opportunity.”
“I feel like I was definitely trying to fill some void where I was definitely unhappy with myself. I thought that these things will make me happy again. We all want someone to like us, but I am no longer reliant on that to make me happy.”
